The Routing Company and Virginia Commonwealth University Expand Campus Accessibility with RamsLink Paratransit Service

August 19, 2026 – San Francisco, CA and Richmond, VA: The Routing Company (“TRC”), a global leader in on-demand vehicle routing and public transit technology, today announced the launch of RamsLink, a new paratransit service at Virginia Commonwealth University (“VCU”) designed to expand accessible transportation for students, faculty and staff across the university’s Monroe Park and MCV campuses.

Powered by TRC’s award-winning Pingo™ platform, RamsLink provides registered riders with direct, point-to-point transportation to help meet temporary and long-term mobility needs. Riders can schedule and manage RamsLink trips through the Ride Pingo app, providing a simple digital experience for accessing specialized campus transportation. RamsLink comes as an addition to other Pingo powered campus services at VCU: RamSafe–point to point late night campus transportation–and RamRide shuttle services that have provided nearly 2.5 million trips since 2024.

During academic semesters, RamsLink operates Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with trips scheduled in advance. The service complements VCU’s broader transportation network while providing a mobility option specifically designed around the needs of eligible riders.

“Accessible transportation is fundamental to ensuring that everyone can fully participate in campus life,” said James Cox, CEO of The Routing Company. “VCU offers RamsLink around the needs of its community, and we’re proud that Pingo is helping make that vision possible. This is exactly what modern paratransit should do: make transportation easier to access and manage while giving operators the technology they need to deliver a reliable, responsive service.”

VCU’s two primary campuses create distinct transportation needs. The Monroe Park Campus sits in Richmond’s historic Fan District and serves as the center of much of the university’s academic and student life, while the MCV Campus is home to VCU’s health sciences schools and VCU Medical Center. RamsLink provides specialized point-to-point transportation to help eligible members of the VCU community navigate between and within these campus environments.

“We are dedicated to supporting the VCU community and connecting our students and campuses through accessible services,” said Josh Stone, executive director of VCU Parking and Transportation. “Given the unique transportation demands across our two campuses, we’re excited to offer RamsLink to better meet the needs of our community through specialized, point-to-point service.”

RamsLink supports riders with a range of temporary and long-term mobility needs. VCU has established multiple registration pathways for eligible students, faculty and staff, including individuals with temporary mobility needs, ADA placards and qualifying long-term disabilities.

Through Ride Pingo, registered riders can manage their transportation from a familiar digital interface, while TRC’s platform provides the technology behind scheduling and service delivery. Pingo is designed to support flexible transportation models including paratransit, on-demand, fixed-route, flex-route and multimodal services.

The launch demonstrates how universities and other institutions can use modern transportation technology to improve accessibility while creating a more seamless experience for riders. For VCU, RamsLink also advances the university’s One VCU mission by helping students, faculty and staff connect more easily across its campuses.

The Routing Company’s Pingo platform currently powers on-demand, paratransit, fixed-route, flex-route and multimodal transportation services across North America and Europe. RamsLink expands TRC’s work in accessible transportation and demonstrates how Pingo can support specialized mobility services in complex campus environments.
