Forbes 30 Under 30: The Routing Company
The Routing Company was founded by Alex Wallar and Menno van der Zee to bring Uber-style on-demand pickups and analytics to public transport. Its algorithm is born out of research Wallar and van der Zee completed while pursuing a doctorate at MIT and a master's at TU Delft, respectively. The cofounders have brought in industry experts like CEO James Cox, a former Uber exec who launched UberPOOL. The startup has raised $27.5 million from Galvanize, MIT's The Engine and Systemiq Capital, among others, and signed deals in the UK, US and UAE to help boost passenger numbers.
