Minnesota college campuses launch on-demand shuttle service
Partnership with TRC aims to enhance campus mobility across St Olaf and Carleton Colleges in Northfield and Dundas with scalable on-demand transit solutions.
A responsive on-demand campus shuttle service has been introduced at St Olaf and Carleton Colleges in the US state of Minnesota.
The new service, launched in partnership between the Routing Company and Minnesota-based Northfield Lines, aims to enhance campus mobility at the colleges located in Northfield and Dundas, with plans to also serve additional corporate campuses in the future.
Flexible transportation options
According to TRC, this new partnership is a “significant step forward” in its mission to enhance mobility for educational institutions and corporate campuses, offering “flexible, efficient, and cost-effective transportation options”.
The service provides on-demand and scheduled transit on corporate and college campuses using vans to improve mobility for students, staff, and corporate clients with the initial focus on enhancing mobility for essential trips such as medical appointments, pharmacy visits, and local volunteering opportunities.
“Northfield Lines has been providing transport services across Minnesota for over 30 years and have always kept customer service at the centre of everything it does,” said Dami Adebayo, director of partnerships at the Routing Company. “That makes [it] an ideal partner for TRC and we’re excited to work together to digitalise and augment the campus shuttles it provides to local students and employees across Minnesota.”
