TRC Engineers Join Zoox to Support Robotaxi Dispatch

At The Routing Company (TRC), our purpose has always been clear: create smarter, more accessible transportation networks by developing on-demand vehicle routing and management platforms. Formed by a triad of transit leaders, rideshare experts, and academic researchers, we’ve spent years developing on-demand transit solutions that improve how cities move.

Today, we’re proud to share an exciting next phase of that mission. Five TRC engineers, including Menno van der Zee and Alex Wallar, previously Technical Co-Founders, are joining Zoox, a purpose-built robotaxi company, to help advance the efficiency and scalability of its service. Additionally, James Cox, CEO of TRC, will serve as an Advisor to Zoox's Chief Product Officer, Mike White.

This cohort brings deep experience in building sophisticated routing algorithms and operating live transit systems, expertise that will now help Zoox optimize how passengers are picked up and routed across dense urban environments. Their contributions will support Zoox’s ongoing efforts to increase fleet utilization and create a seamless, reliable ride experience as the company continues to scale.

As part of this agreement, Zoox has also entered into a non-exclusive technology license agreement with TRC.

This is a proud moment for TRC. We’re excited to see members of our team contribute to the future of autonomous ride-hail and to support Zoox as it brings its groundbreaking robotaxi service to more cities. At the same time, TRC will continue to deliver high-quality service to our customers, with the right team in place to continue innovating and advancing our mission to power cities with convenient and reliable transportation for all.
