TRC unveils advanced scheduling tools in latest Pingo upgrade, empowering paratransit operators and elevating the user experience
New features enhance scheduler experience and capabilities, driving efficiency and innovation in paratransit operations
September 25, 2024 – New York, New York, USA: The Routing Company (“TRC”), a global on-demand vehicle routing and management platform partnering with cities to power the future of public transit, today announced the launch of a new wave of upgrades to its Pingo Access™ paratransit product.
The upgrades, which add to TRC’s recent launch of nine distinct paratransit upgrades – are designed to enhance the functionality of Pingo for schedulers, dispatchers, and operators, delivering greater efficiency and flexibility in paratransit scheduling and operations.
Key features in this latest release include TRC’s new Next-Generation Simulation Agents, Async Assigner, and Recurring Shift Management – powerful tools that simplify complex scheduling tasks and streamline day-to-day operations.
By equipping agencies with cutting-edge solutions, TRC continues to lead the industry in providing innovative tools that improve both operational performance and rider experience.
“Many paratransit agencies still rely on manual systems, while others use fully automated solutions that take away much-needed control – and both approaches leave a lot of room for improvement,” said Niko Rekhviashvili, Senior Director of Product, TRC. “Our goal is to offer tools that go beyond a one-size-fits-all approach, ultimately empowering transit professionals with the latest technology and best practices to enhance their operations in the most user-friendly way possible.”
Revolutionizing the Scheduler’s Toolkit: Three Transformative Features
- Next-Generation Simulation Agents: Offering unparalleled realism, these agents allow agencies to simulate complex scenarios, including a mix of on-demand and pre-scheduled trips, flex routes, and more. This gives schedulers a risk-free environment to test new features and optimize their operations.
- Async Assigner: The newly enhanced Async Assigner brings powerful automation to pre-scheduled rides. Operators can manually or automatically trigger the Assigner, which intelligently reorganizes ride assignments while respecting any manual reassignments, reorders, or locked trips made by human dispatchers. With the new Async Assigner, TRC has routinely observed a 30% increase in fleet productivity metrics.
- Recurring Shift Management: This feature provides dispatchers with long-term planning tools to manage shifts, set up flex routes, and schedule driver breaks, all while offering easy-to-use editing capabilities – even for shifts with assigned trips.

Putting Partners First
“We’ve appreciated TRC’s spirit of partnership, adapting their product to our local needs and innovating a smart trip-planning tool that incorporates fixed-route with on-demand services,” said John Clauson, Executive Director of Kitsap Transit.
Echoing this sentiment, Amy Arnold from Chillicothe Transit System remarked, “TRC was the breath of fresh air CTS needed after our strained relationship with our previous provider. If we need a function that isn’t offered, TRC works to make it happen. If we need a custom report, they build it.”

Innovation at the Core
“Innovation is in our DNA,” said James Cox, Chief Executive Officer, TRC. “With each new upgrade, we’re delivering not just features, but solutions that empower transit agencies and improve the lives of riders. Our commitment to customer experience remains unmatched, as shown by our industry-leading NPS of 92. We're focused on building tools that solve real-world challenges while continuously enhancing the user experience."
This latest release further strengthens TRC’s One Transit vision, a unified operating model that seamlessly integrates multiple transit modes – paratransit, microtransit, and fixed routes – into a single, cohesive system. The integration of multiple transit modes not only enhances operational efficiency, it also represents a significant move towards inclusive public transportation by treating all riders as equals – whether they’re using paratransit, microtransit, or fixed routes.
“Over the past year, we have been steadily building toward the One Transit vision. Recent releases like manual reassignment and overflow trips have laid the groundwork, and now – with the launch of async assigner, next generation simulation agents, and recurring shifts – we are introducing advanced scheduling tools that raise the ceiling on what’s possible,” continued Niko. “By introducing twenty-first century technology, best practices, and state-of-the-art algorithms, we’re giving transit professionals the freedom to enhance workflows and achieve the results they need, on their terms.”
Industry-Leading Customer Satisfaction
TRC’s commitment to customer satisfaction is backed by its recent industry-leading Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 92, a testament to the company’s ability to deliver both innovative technology and exceptional support.
The Pingo platform, which includes the Drive Pingo™ and Ride Pingo™ apps and the Pingo Dashboard™ operations tool, has powered over 1.5 million trips to date, helping agencies deliver efficient, flexible, and scalable transit services.
