SMART Expands Airport Shuttle Service Area, Extends Hours
PETALUMA, CA — The Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit District is expanding the service area of its SMART Connect Airport Shuttle, an on-demand service like Uber or Lyft that provides transportation for SMART train passengers to and from SMART's Sonoma County Airport Station and the surrounding area.
Starting Monday, the 12-seat, all-electric SMART Connect shuttle will expand its on-demand service to the east side of U.S. Highway 101, including to and from the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts, Sutter Pacific Hospital and clinics, and the California Indian Museum & Cultural Center.
During the week, the shuttle provides on-demand transportation to and from the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport and the surrounding business area. On weekends, the shuttle provides transportation to and from the airport station and 30 wineries and breweries.
The agency has also extended shuttle service hours to better serve commuters. The weekday shuttle starts at 7 a.m. to carry passengers from the northbound SMART train that arrives at 7:23 a.m. at the Sonoma County Airport Station. Weekend hours have been extended to 7:30 p.m. to meet passengers disembarking from the 7:17 p.m. northbound SMART train.
To book a trip on the SMART Connect Airport shuttle, passengers can use the Ride Pingo™ app or call 800-727-0279. If space is available, passengers can also walk on.
The shuttle is wheelchair-accessible and has luggage space along with other amenities. SMART also operates a Connect shuttle at the Larkspur station.
The airport shuttle operates from 7 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. - 6 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends. One-way fare is $1.50 for adults, 75 cents for persons with a disability, and free for youth 18 and younger and senior citizens.
"The airport area and Highway 101 business corridors are home to many business and corporate centers," SMART officials said. "The shuttle offers flexibility and convenience for commuters and tourists riding the train to work and play."
