Dami Adebayo named Director of Partnerships, Stephen Kuban named Head of Partner Growth, Ben Susman assumes leadership of engineering, and Dick Alexander retires and transitions into Senior Advisor role
March 13, 2024 – New York, New York, USA: The Routing Company (“TRC”), a global on-demand vehicle routing and management platform partnering with cities to power the future of public transit, today announced key leadership updates: Benjamin (“Ben”) Susman assumes leadership of TRC’s engineering team, Dami Adebayo assumes leadership of the business development team, and Stephen Kuban ascends to lead strategic growth initiatives of TRC partners.
Adebayo, who most recently served as TRC’s European Partnerships Lead, is now Director of Partnerships, assuming leadership of the business development team following the retirement of Dick Alexander (former Chief Development Officer) and his subsequent transition to Senior Advisor for TRC.
Stephen Kuban will transition to Head of Partner Growth, focused on strategic initiatives and scalable growth. Susman continues under the Director of Engineering title, while assuming leadership of TRC’s full engineering team.
"As we continue to refine and improve our product in pursuit of delivering an unmatched customer experience for operators and riders, we’re also investing in the best talent our industry has to offer,” said James Cox, Chief Executive Officer, TRC. “Today’s announcement shifts key leaders with critical bench strengths into leadership roles for the most influential parts of our business. This has positioned us ideally for significant and scalable growth of our deployments, while also developing a high performing team.”
Since joining TRC in 2022, Adebayo has been focused on driving TRC’s expansion in Europe through innovative partnerships with both municipalities and fleet operators. Prior to TRC, he worked in roles focused on mobility, strategic consulting, and corporate development during his time at McKinsey & Company, Free Now, and The Boston Consulting Group. He holds a Master of Engineering (M.Eng) degree from the University of Cambridge.
“Being a part of this special collective at TRC is something that means a lot to me. Our team has a shared and committed focus on positively impacting communities through our transport solutions, and we can’t achieve that without working side by side with our partners,” said Adebayo. “I’m incredibly excited to have been trusted to lead our dynamic team, and also want to extend my gratitude to Dick for setting us up for success.”
Kuban joined TRC in 2022, and since then has spearheaded TRC’s international business development efforts. An on-demand transit expert, he first entered the transit industry in 2015 with RideCo, serving in progressively advancing roles in analysis, planning, and leadership. Pioneering the development of dynamic transit, he launched North America’s first microtransit service and in 2019 served as Principal Planner for the design and implementation of Los Angeles Metro’s “Metro Micro” program. Kuban holds a Bachelor of Mathematics and Computer Science degree from the University of Waterloo.
“It’s time for paratransit riders and dispatchers to get equitable empowerment, and I recognize how important technology is in unlocking this future,” said Kuban. “We all share this mission at TRC. Honestly, every day I am grateful to have been granted this opportunity to guide our current and future partners on their individual journeys towards truly efficient transit equity.”
Since joining the Company in 2022, Susman has served as Director of Engineering, managing the platform team, leading the implementation of our commingling paratransit product, and focusing on TRC’s scalability. He also led service ownership, compliance, and infrastructure development.
“I’m thrilled to step into leading TRC’s engineering team and deliver on our steadfast focus to continuously delight our customers,” said Susman. “Since inception, TRC has delivered the most efficient demand-responsive product on the market – a result of our industry-leading engineering team. As we forge ahead with expansion of our commingled paratransit product, I look forward to enabling our engineers to be their best and to bring a positive impact to the communities we serve.”
Prior to TRC, Susman held progressively advancing engineering and product roles with Demandware and Salesforce, including leader of Salesforce’s infrastructure teams and support of Salesforce Einstein, the artificial intelligence (“AI”) division of Salesforce. He holds a Master of Computer Science degree (Concentration in AI), a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree, and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics degree all from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He has also published papers in AI, presented continuous integration and continuous delivery solutions at AWS Re:invent, and holds a patent describing high-scale observability systems.
“I want to thank Dick Alexander for his innumerable contributions to the growth and evolution of TRC, and look forward to his continued involvement as a Senior Advisor to TRC,” said Cox. “In tandem, I am excited to have Dami, Ben, and Stephen ascend into key leadership positions as we shift into TRC’s next chapter of growth. Together, we remain focused on delivering the best customer experience, which has proudly become one of our biggest definitions of success.”
