TRC celebrates launch of on-demand service in Cass County, Michigan, and revitalizes rider accessibility through Pingo Rural™

City of Dowagiac launch marks TRC’s third on-demand service in Michigan

July 12, 2024 New York, New York, USA: The Routing Company (“TRC”), a global on-demand vehicle routing and management platform partnering with cities to power the future of public transit, today celebrated the City of Dowagiac’s successful launch of on-demand transit service – powered by TRC’s Ride Pingo™ app – in Cass County, Michigan.

The launch follows two other deployments by TRC in Michigan this year: the City of Big Rapids and Western Washtenaw Area Value Express.

The new service modernizes the phone-in requests and scheduling by incorporating TRC’s Pingo Rural™ across the City of Dowagiac. Pingo Rural™ is a product package that supercharges rural transit with on-demand and commingled service that is optimized for rural deployments.

Dowagiac DART operates within city limits, with additional service area to include Southwestern Michigan College, and coordinates its service with Cass County Public Transit which operates a county-wide transit service. TRC will enhance this Dial-a-Ride service with on-demand service.

“We are thrilled to support the City of Dowagiac in its pursuit of connected, responsive, and flexible transit where every rider is included,” said James Cox, Chief Executive Officer, TRC. “Launching on-demand service, powered by Pingo, delivers on the City of Dowagiac’s commitment to offering the safest and most convenient service possible.”

TRC is supporting Dowagiac’s on-demand transit needs with its full suite of Pingo products – including the Pingo Journey™ feature. TRC’s award-winning Pingo platform includes the Drive Pingo™ and Ride Pingo™ apps and the Pingo Dashboard™ operations management tool, which together provide on-demand, paratransit, fixed, shuttle, and flexible transit that enhances ridership of existing transit networks.

“Our long-term focus has always been improving accessible services. With the launch of on-demand service we are making the freedom to move even easier for our residents,” said Dowagiac City Manager Kevin Anderson. “Riders can easily track the location of their ride.  This app makes transportation more convenient, concise, and responsive.”

Pingo has moved over one million passengers to date. To learn more, visit theroutingcompany.com, or to request a demo email move@theroutingcompany.com
