TRC Launches Innovative On-Demand Campus Shuttle Services with Northfield Lines in Minnesota

April 17, 2025 – New York, New York, USA: The Routing Company (“TRC”), a global on-demand vehicle routing and management platform, has launched a new partnership with Northfield Lines to deliver responsive on-demand shuttle services in Northfield and Dundas, Minnesota. Launched in April 2025, the shuttles serve students and staff across St. Olaf College, Carleton College, with plans to also serve additional corporate campuses.

This partnership is a significant step forward in TRC’s mission to enhance mobility for educational institutions and corporate campuses, offering flexible, efficient, and cost-effective transportation options.

The service leverages TRC’s Pingo™ platform, which includes the Drive Pingo™ and Ride Pingo™ apps and the Pingo Dashboard™ operations tool, and has powered over two million trips to date, helping agencies and organisations deliver efficient, flexible, and scalable transit services.

TRC's Pingo Campus™ product is specifically designed to meet the unique mobility needs of universities, colleges, and corporate campuses. Deployed at institutions such as Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Pingo Campus offers tailored on-demand transit solutions that integrate seamlessly with campus transportation ecosystems, providing safe, reliable, and efficient shuttling for students, faculty, and staff. At VCU, TRC’s on-demand transit and shuttle service with Pingo Campus™ is  highly utilized, moving up to 80,000 passengers a month.

"Northfield Lines have been providing transport services across Minnesota for over 30 years and they've always kept customer service at the centre of everything they do" said Dami Adebayo, Director of Partnerships at The Routing Company. "That makes them an ideal partner for TRC and we’re excited to work together to digitalise and augment the campus shuttles they provide to local students and employees across Minnesota."

The service provides on-demand and scheduled transit on corporate and college campuses using vans to enhance mobility for students, staff, and corporate clients with the initial focus on enhancing mobility for essential trips such as medical appointments, pharmacy visits, and local volunteering opportunities.

"The partnership with TRC supports our goal to provide efficient and reliable transportation for students and corporate partners," said Mary O’Neil, Vice President of Sales & Operations at Northfield Lines. “We look forward to offering a service that meets the unique needs of our community while maintaining operational excellence.”
